Arsenal have sealed top place in Group B of the Europa league after a 4-1 drubbing of Austrian side Rapid Wien. Here’s how our players fared out of 10:
Runarrson: 6 – Could have possibly done a little better for the goal we conceded considering the shot was straight at him, but impressed with his distribution.
Cedric: 6 – Showed great technical quality through his switches of play and dangerous balls into the box. A decent display.
Mustafi: 6 – Did not put a foot wrong but also didn’t have much to do.
Mari: 7 – His lack of pace was evident on a couple occasions, but apart from that a tidy display. Looks very comfortable on the ball and scored a great header to make it 2-0 early on.
Kolasinac: 5.5 – At times I felt he was conservative with his play and could have used the ball better, but did not really do anything wrong.
Elneny: 5.5 – A number of clumsy moments in the first half, but expected considering he’s just coming back in after recovering from COVID-19.
Maitland Niles: 7.5 – Showed great athleticism in midfield, something which we lack in the first eleven. Got into the box, intercepted nicely and pressed with great intensity.
Lacazette: 8.5 (MOTM) – Playing a little deeper, almost like a number 10, he was impressive today. The goal was out of this world. The pass to Pepe in the lead up to the third was quality too.
Nelson: 6.5 – Showed great spark as always and intelligence to set Nketiah up for our 3rd goal just before half time.
Pepe: 7 – Could have been more decisive on a couple occasions, but a quality display involving 5 key passes and dribbles each.
Nketiah: 8 – Ball stuck to his feet like glue. Very strong in the duels and great intensity in his off the ball pressures. Got a deserved goal.
SUBS:
Smith Rowe: 7 – After scoring almost immediately after being brought on, he showed his class with intelligent movement and cute touches.
Ceballos: 7 – Came in and played with great authority, playing penetrative passes into dangerous areas in and around the box.
Willian: 6 – Some nice touches, but had nothing major to show for it.
Chambers and Balogun: N/A. Too little time to rate.
Good ratings, and well justified. I see lots of people get carried away with positive performances against lesser opponents and give ratings of 9+ to everybody.
Thank you, Kristian. Just trying to be as realistic as possible 🙂
